Dal Shorba

Ingredients

Dhal Malka

1.0 kg

Turmeric

10 gm

Oil

50 gm

Butter

50 gm

Sliced onions

400 gm

Plum tomatoes

1 tin

Garlic paste

50 gm

White pepper

10 gm

Garam masala

10 gm

Curry powder

20 gm

Lemon juice

2 lemons

Cream

150 ml

Water

3 litres

Cream

150 ml

Method

  1. Wash and cook dal in water and salt until tender.
  2. Heat butter and oil in a pan, add onions. Sauté until light brown. Add the remaining spices and tomatoes. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  3. Add the dal to the masala and cook for 10 minutes.
  4. Puree the mixture.
  5. Add lemon juice before serving.
